BigNews.Biz - Aug 21,2010 - Singapore, August 23rd, 2010 - Greenyarn, a Boston nanotech company developing advanced, eco-friendly products for consumers is sponsoring the 101-day trip with a range of products to be tested on the Silk Road.
"We have sponsored a Himalayan Trip a few years back, and the feedback we got from the trip help us design Tyrrano, our most advanced and comfortable Hiking socks." said Robin Low, CEO of Greenyarn. "The tough environment would require a cushioning and wicking socks. The deodorizing and antibacterial socks needed to be easily washed and quick drying too, and it is exactly what we created after the trip and we will love to get more feedback from this new trip.”
Besides sponsoring socks, the insoles and the Eco-fabric smart briefs are also given to be tested on this long journey which comfort and easy maintenance will be a must.
"This journey was selected to highlight the predicament of countries in a war-stricken region. By traversing the lands and interacting with the people, I hope to cast a different light on the unique situation of the region and let the people tell their story.” said Sun Soon, who will be on a bamboo bicycle to cover the trip. “This expedition is essentially an attempt to bridge and exchange cultures.”
The use of a bamboo bicycle emphasizes the interconnectivity between humans and nature and captures the charm of simplicity. The use bamboo will also promote the versatility of this wonderful plant and promote sustainability.
This 101-day overseas expedition to Central Asia on a bamboo bicycle will commence from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and end in Kazakhstan. The route I hope to cover is over 3400 km and more commonly referred to as the Silk Road. It is scheduled to commence from mid-April 2011 till mid-August.
