BigTravelNews.info - Jul 07,2010 - (BigTravelNews.info)- California Road Trips 2010 encourages visitors to travel around the Golden State, especially by car, with special two- to three-day driving getaways along with more detailed routes for longer vacations.
“California has long been known for its scenic drives, from highways that hug the coast to routes that explore the mountains and everything in between,” said President and CEO Caroline Beteta of CTTC. “California Road Trips 2010 is the best resource to help visitors experience all California has to offer while enjoying the exhilaration of the road.”
This year, the theme of the guide, produced by the California Travel and Tourism Commission (CTTC) and Sunset Publishing, is “Scenic Byway Adventures,” which highlights nationally and state-designated scenic byways, as well as other hallmark scenic driving routes that are not officially designated. Routes are based on how California tourists actually drive, and feature one region prominently, but may also run through more of California’s 12 distinct regions for the most logical route.
California Road Trips 2010 displays a scenic desert theme on its cover. Inside, readers will find inside scoops on things to see and do, and the abundance of activities they’ll find, throughout the state of California. As part of the guide’s “California Wine Heritage” trip, drivers can travel up the coast and inland through quintessential wine country dotted with quaint and historic towns and hamlets. In “Dunes to Peaks,” visitors experience California’s lows and highs as they climb from sweeping desert vistas to the Eastern Sierra’s alpine splendor. They can also circle the San Francisco Bay on scenic byways from big city attractions to small towns, tall trees and sandy beaches in the guide’s “San Francisco Baylands and Byways.” The “Save & Splurge” sidebar offers great insider tips for a variety of budgets.
The 2010 guide also incorporates the activity icons used on CTTC’s consumer Web site, www.visitcalifornia.com, to better denote the experiences associated with each stop on the drive. Each route also contains a special call out, titled “Discovery Day Trip,” which redirects readers to visit the Web site for extended travel within that region.
California Road Trips 2010 is available in the June edition of Sunset magazine. You can also get a copy by calling 1-877-TOP-DRIVES, or download it for free via the CTTC Web site at www.visitcalifornia.com/visitorsguide.
CTTC is a non-profit organization with a mission to develop and maintain marketing programs – in partnership with the state’s travel industry – that keep California top-of-mind as a premier travel destination. According to CTTC, travel and tourism expenditures total $87.7 billion annually in California, support jobs for 881,000 Californians and generate $5.3 billion in state and local tax revenues.
