BigNews.Biz - Mar 12,2010 - Over the past few decades, Mexico Real Estate has grown quickly as a market with many opportunities; among the various locations in Mexico, the Playa del Carmen Real Estate area and the other nearby Yucatan Real Estate areas were recently recognized by Filipe Calderon, the President of Mexico, as one of the areas about which Mexico as a nation could be most proud.
The speech from the president came in reaction to the recent completion of a beach widening project on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, specifically in Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Calderon officially opened the completed project in early May. The federal government had invested nearly 100 million dollars. The new beaches are considered to be one of the main incentives for beachfront real estate buyers in Playa del Carmen and the nearby area.
"Mexico is proud of Quintana Roo, and these accomplishments are for the good of all" said Calderon, who continued to comment on the unparalleled natural beauty of Quintana Roo, "which has become internationally renowned as a wonderful part of our beloved Mexico."
The new beaches are only part of the area's recent growth which includes the development of Cancun as an international travel and business hub, the building of a second airport for Playa del Carmen property owners, about 45 minutes south in Tulum, and the opening of the south of the state for tourism and real estate development, following the large-scale success seen in Playa del Carmen.
In the same inauguration ceremony, the governor of Quintana Roo (the state that makes up the east half of the Yucatan Peninsula) described Playa del Carmen, Cancun and the surrounding area as Mexico's "bridge to the Caribbean Sea and the strategic focal point with the U.S. and the rest of Latin America."
In his speech, President Calderon also reiterated his government's commitment "to continue projecting Quintana Roo as the most important tourist destination in the country and one of the best in the world." For real estate in Playa del Carmen, this status within the tourism industry means continued development and improvement of the infrastructure and attractions that make the lifestyle in the area attractive to American and Canadian buyers.
Calderon finally commented on the strong recovery of tourism in the area, which has been one of the best in Mexico since the recession. This recovery also indicates a resilient economy and the strength of Playa del Carmen's attractiveness for non-Mexicans, pointing to continued security in making real estate purchases in the area.
