BigNews.Biz - Dec 17,2009 - Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement regarding H.R. 2847, the latest so-called “stimulus” package from House Democrats.
“Why can’t the Democrats comprehend what the rest of the country can clearly see?” asked Congressman Price. “Their $1.1 trillion ‘stimulus’ package has been a miserable failure. It has inflated our debt and sparked uncertainty about the future, all without preventing unemployment from soaring to double digits. Yet today, House Democrats are going down the exact same road. It’s remarkable that they believe spending another $150 billion on the same failed ‘stimulus’ policies will yield different results. And claiming to ‘pay for’ this boondoggle with money from the TARP slush fund is a sad joke played on taxpayers. At the end of the day, the same failed policies will have the same failed results. This is the definition of insanity.
“Meaningful job growth will only come when employers are confident about the future. That means spending restraint and low-tax policies proven to encourage job creation, not big-spending policies proven to fail. Republicans have put better solutions on the table all year long. We are offering Americans leadership that lets them do what they do best, compete and produce. It’s time to get government out of the way so our entrepreneurs and innovators can lead the American economy into the future.”
