BigNews.Biz - Jul 17,2012 - Keynote® Systems (NASDAQ:KEYN), the global leader in Internet and mobile cloud testing & monitoring, today announced that it is joining with Parca, now celebrating its 60th year of helping people with developmental disabilities live independently, to present the inaugural “Keynote Systems Giro di Pacifica,” AKA “The Ride At Devil’s Slide,” a one-of-a-kind recreational bike ride centered on the scenic seaside village of Pacifica and San Mateo County coast, on Saturday, July 28, 2012. Keynote has recently become the primary and title event sponsor and therefore the ride has been officially renamed the Keynote Systems Giro di Pacifica.
Keynote’s decision to become the main event sponsor of the Giro di Pacifica is in keeping with the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting community causes and maintaining a corporate culture which encourages employees to volunteer and make a difference in both their local and global communities.
Umang Gupta, chairman and CEO of Keynote remarked, “We have enjoyed a successful association with Parca for years and are very proud of becoming the title event sponsor for the inaugural Giro di Pacifica biking event and to helping Parca continue their valuable work in our community.”
“We are thrilled and grateful for the generous support of Keynote Systems,” said Diana Conti, Parca CEO. “Keynote has been a dedicated and long-time supporter of people with developmental disabilities.”
The ride, which benefits Parca’s programs, offers both challenges and fun for all levels of cyclists. The spectacular and challenging 100-mile Century and 63-mile Metric Century routes were designed by highly experienced, competitive athletes for highly experienced, competitive athletes, and travel down the coast through the Devil’s Slide and back through ancient groves of redwoods and watersheds. For intermediate to advanced-level riders, the 33-mile and 16-mile routes head northward, up the stunning Pacifica coastline, over wooded hills, and along tree-lined roads. All rides offer full support, with crewed rest stops and roving support vehicles patrolling the routes, from start to finish. For younger participants, Parca clients and “easier riders,” who haven’t been on a bike in years, there’s a gentler, flatter 3-mile "Giro Famiglia" family ride, open to all ages and abilities.
While Parca has been affiliated with other popular and successful bike rides in the past—most notably the popular Giro di Peninsula which ran from the mid-1990’s through 2010—2012 is the first year for the Giro di Pacifica.
“We chose Pacifica for both its spectacular coastline, and its friendly and welcoming community,” said Conti. “We can offer experienced cyclists world-class routes and breath-taking scenery, while people with developmental disabilities and local families with small children will be able to take part, too. Many of our incredible clients, who benefit from the programs funded by the Giro, have even signed up to volunteer for the event.”
In keeping with the Italian spirit of the “Giro,” all participants will feast on a special Italian meal provided by Mazzetti’s Bakery, a favorite Coastside mainstay.
Rides start and end at the Park Mall in Pacifica. Fees for Distance Riders are $35 with a
