Dates Announced for Maha Kumbh Mela 2013 Festival Allahabad Maha Kumbh Mela, a holy event that comes after 12 years, is a very important Hindu pilgrimage. Kumbh Mela 2013 is scheduled to start on Jan 14 and tens of millions of people are expected to come.

Maha Kumbh Mela 2013 dates has been announced by the administration, it will begin from 14 January and end on 10th of March, and the first auspicious date for bathing in river Ganga is Jan 14. Last time in 2001, the duration of the MahaKumbh was just 44 days but this time it is a 56 days affair. Due to this extended period, Uttar Pradesh State administration is expecting more devotees and tourist to visit the fair site. The number could go over eighty five million which is a huge twenty five million more than the people visited last Maha Kumbh Mela. On Amavasya day alone, around 30 million pilgrims are expected to take a dip in the holy water of river Ganga.
For Kumbh Mela 2013, the administration of Uttar Pradesh State Government has made some special arrangements and officials are ensuring that the pilgrims would not face any difficulty in 2013 MahaKumbh. As far as the security of pilgrims and tourists are concerned, a massive security arrangement will be in place and that will include a senior superintendent of police, 12 assistant superintendents of Police, 50 deputy superintendents of Police, 50 inspectors, 550 sub inspectors, 450 head constables and 5800 constables.
Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has given instructions to the officials to take every possible step to make Kumbh Mela 2013 a grand success. He said in his statement that maintaining cleanliness and law and order is of utmost importance and all the industrial units should be closed during the Kumbhmela period to ensure clean water for pilgrims in the river Ganga. He also asked the officials to complete all the construction and beautification work of Allahabad roads so that the visitors should not face traffic jams during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2013.
