The AFIS, powered by BioLink Solutions, is a highly rated fingerprint solution supporting the enrollment and identification of millions of criminal and citizens as well as a robust latent fingerprint analysis system. Workstations will be deployed throughout the nation and as well as portable crime scene units (based on Bio-Metrica Custom Mobile Biometric Unit (MBU)) that can wirelessly connect with the central system, the police will be able to enroll and identify criminals from anywhere in Tanzania with a rapid turn around time for results.
This new AFIS will replace an older system that was inadequate for the police’s usage and had not been in operation due to a failed deployment.
