Nick and the Ovorols Live At Buddy Guy's Legends W/ Special Guest Stanton Moore of Galactic With A Newly Released Debut CD (Live At Kingston Mines), Americana Band NICK And The Ovorols Will Be Headlining At The World-famous Buddy Guy's Legends, With Special Guest Stanton Moore Of Galactic
BigNews.Biz - May 01,2012 - With a newly released debut CD (Live at Kingston Mines), Americana band NICK and the Ovorols will be headlining at the world-famous Buddy Guy's Legends, one of Chicago most renowned and respected blues clubs, along with critically acclaimed drummer Stanton Moore of Galactic. Bandleader Nick Peraino was a sideman in The Joanna Connor Band from 2005-2011. The band enjoyed a residence at renowned blues club Kingston Mines, where Peraino met Moore. Moore happened to pop in one night to enjoy some Chicago blues and ended up sitting in. Hailing from New Orleans, Stanton Moore is known most notably for being the founder of the jazz/funk jamband Galactic. Over the years Galactic has toured with great success and recently performed on the Conan O'Brien show. Moore's characteristically New Orleans-style drumming has garnered accolades from Modern Drummer for his educational book and DVD Groove Alchemy (Telarc International, 2010). Moving from sideman in The Joanna Connor Band to frontman of NICK and the Ovorols, Peraino has reconnected with Moore, rekindling the magic of that night at the Kingston mines. Peraino's shift from sideman to frontman was realized through a shift in consciousness. A seemingly bad turn of events led to a positive shift in his outlook on life. An unfortunate visit to the emergency room in February of 2011 led to a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease. Peraino came upon newfound confidence and a burning desire to become a band leader. According to Peraino, "hen Stanton sat in that night he had that THING ya know? Such a great feel. I knew that I had to play with him again, preferably sooner than later." Shortly after forming NICK and the Ovorols in the late summer of 2011, he held a residence of his own at Kingston Mines from December of 2011 to April of 2012. Kingston Mines MC Frank Pellegrino is calling Nick "one of the best young, up and coming talents." In February the band decided to record one of their weekly Wednesday night shows and the album Live at Kingston Mines was born. The show at Legends on Tuesday, May 29, is first-come first-served. Physical copies of the new debut release Live at Kingston Mines can be found on Amazon.com and will be on sale at the show. The album can also be streamed on Spotify and downloaded on iTunes.
