WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) made the following statement on the one-year anniversary of the deadly tornadoes that struck the central part of Alabama:
“This marks the anniversary of the devastating tornadoes that struck our state last year. Mary and I extend our sympathy to those who have suffered and pray for healing and recovery. In the darkest days after the storms, we witnessed inspiring strength and resolve. The character of our state and its people is a source of constant pride to me. It has been commented on many times.
Moving forward, my office will continue to work with federal and state agencies to ensure disaster funds are properly distributed. And we must take steps together to prepare citizens and communities for future storms, doing everything we can in advance of any natural disaster to save lives and minimize damage. In the aftermath of last year’s terrible tragedy our state will not only heal but ultimately grow stronger.”
