— The Midwest Bonsai Society presents its Spring Bonsai Show & Sale, highlighting bonsai trees in various stages of development with interpretive signage to explain what the caretaker is intending for the tree. The timing of the show corresponds with the Garden's bonsai collection coming out of winter storage and onto public display in the Bonsai Courtyards. Between the Runnells and Searle Courtyards, up to 50 bonsai can be displayed at one time.
Vendors will be selling bonsai trees, raw nursery stock, pots, tools, and supplies. In addition, free demonstrations will be held throughout the show. Workshops will be held over the weekend to allow beginners and accomplished bonsai growers to learn more about bonsai. Additional fee and registration is required for workshops. Visit www.midwestbonsai.org for more information about available workshops.
The Midwest Bonsai Society Spring Bonsai Show & Sale is part of the American Flower Show Series, a growing national horticultural program, bringing together amateur and expert gardeners and educators by offering floral exhibits and programs that focus on America's favorite flower groups.
