(Green Bay, WI) – Every year on Arbor Day, NWTC’s Landscape Horticulture Club plants a tree in honor of someone who has made an impact in the world of horticulture. This year, a Hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana) tree will be planted in front of the AP building on the NWTC campus on Friday, April 27 at 11 am in honor of Don Jaworski.
Don retired from NWTC last December after 39 years of service to the college. He was the Associate Dean in the Trades & Technical Division and oversaw the establishment of the Landscape Horticulture program. Without Don’s leadership and enthusiasm the program would not be where it is today. Don is also the first person to be recognized twice by the Horticulture Club for their contributions. The new planting is in front of the building that Don called home for many years so it only seemed fitting that new tree should have his name on it.
