BigNews.Biz - Apr 13,2012 - RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced that John B. Cranham has been named associate vice president of buildings and grounds. In his position, he will be responsible for ensuring oversight of the maintenance and improvements of all offices, departments, trees and lawns on the university campus. Cranham will supervise the work performed by members of the housekeeping and facility staff as well as plan for upgrades needed to keep buildings and grounds clean and safe. Some of the projects which he already has completed on campus are the remodeling of the admissions office, work on the campus fountain and the addition of a volleyball court. Cranham has supervised a general upgrade of housekeeping standards and requirements campuswide as well as security and emergency practices, which include transitioning the university’s security department into a public safety department. He will be in charge of overseeing the implementation of an upcoming campuswide environmental water conservation grant program as well.
With 25 years of professional service in the private manufacturing sector, Cranham’s previous experience includes work in plant operations, plant maintenance and various manufacturing processes. He joined the university following eight years as maintenance manager for the Berry Plastics plant.
“The best way to manage facilities on a 21-acre campus is to be proactive,” said Cranham. “When everything runs smoothly and we are able to enhance the already existing beauty on campus, everyone is happier and the university functions most effectively, as people are impressed by the pleasing atmosphere created for people to live, work, study and play.”
“John brings to our campus a strong background of supervising day-to-day operations with several businesses, and these experiences should prove to be invaluable as he performs similar duties on our campus,” said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., president of William Peace University. “He understands that the beauty and efficient performance of our buildings and grounds makes a strong positive impression with our faculty, staff, students and visitors.”
