BigNews.Biz - Mar 30,2012 - Morrison, Colorado: The organizers of the Bicycle Tour of Colorado have announced the dates of the 18th edition of this highly popular event as June 17-23, 2012. Limited to the first 1500 cyclists who sign up, this will be the first year that the Bicycle Tour Colorado will venture beyond the great state of Colorado and do a short ride through Wyoming as well through cities like Laramie and Saratoga. While it is expected to be a tough ride, the participants will be treated with breathtaking scenery that will make it well worth their while. The ride will take place this year from June 17th through the 23rd and is open to to the cycling teams from around the world.
The organizers will provide camping areas, baggage transportation, route maps, road markings, snack and water stations every 15-30 miles, bicycle repair services, and medical support along the route. The Bicycle Tour of Colorado is an outdoor enthusiast’s dreams come true. It started out as an idea to give teams of riders an excuse to ride and do what they love. The tour is as much about showing off the beauty of the picturesque area as it is about the great week long of riding the bikes.
According to Mr. Kent Powell, the man behind the concept, "For many years, it was our dream to run a bicycle tour full-time but I had to work full-time and it was not a cheap proposition. I felt passionate about doing it so I had to work very hard to make our dreams come true. There was so much to accomplish but we knew that if we could pull it all together that the outcome would be a great celebration for both cycling and people who love the outdoors. What we never really imagined is how big it would be for our area and show-casing the Colorado Rockies and surrounding area. We had to push on because the tour was going to be something great we could be proud of for years to come. For 18 years I have poured my heart and soul into building up the Bicycle Tour Colorado not just for the sport, but to show off where we live in the Rocky Mountains."
For 2012, the Bicycle Tour of Colorado is venturing beyond the Greatest State of Colorado as the participants will head north into the State of Wyoming to see the land of the first transcontinental railroad, real cowboy country with high mesas and rocky bluffs. This year's ride still has plenty of miles in the beautiful home state of Colorado and will allow the participants to enjoy the high peaks and passes as they venture through the mountains of the Park Range, the Medicine Bow Range, and the Front Range. A day off in Steamboat Springs will give the participants an opportunity for some non biking adventures or just watch the clouds build over the peaks and valleys.
"For touring the world, and especially the scenic Rocky Mountains,
